TikTok Diamond Value: What Is One Diamond Really Worth?

You just watched a creator get showered with roses and lions during a LIVE, and now you are wondering what all those Diamonds add up to. The honest answer is that the TikTok diamond value is not a fixed price tag. This guide walks you through what TikTok's own rules say, checklist by checklist, using policies we read on 18 October 2026.

Estimate the real cost behind a gift (and what it might mean for Diamonds)

  1. Open your wallet screen. In the TikTok app go to Profile, tap the Menu ☰ button and choose Balance.
  2. Note one Coin package. Tap Get Coins and write down one package: how many Coins it holds and the local price shown. You do not have to buy anything.
  3. Get your cost per Coin. Divide that price by the number of Coins. Repeat with a bigger package, since TikTok says the cost per Coin changes with quantity and where you buy.
  4. Read the gift's Coin number. In a LIVE, tap the Gift button. The Coins each gift needs are printed below it.
  5. Multiply, then stop guessing. Gift Coins times your cost per Coin is what you would pay. What the creator later receives is decided by TikTok, so treat any Diamond-to-cash number as an estimate only.

What is the TikTok diamond value, in plain words?

The TikTok diamond value has no official cash price. TikTok treats a Diamond as a measure of a creator's popularity, and any money a creator gets is a separate Reward that TikTok calculates using Diamonds plus several other factors.

Quick answer: one Diamond is not worth a fixed number of cents. Gifts are bought with Coins, Coins turn into Diamonds at a rate TikTok sets, and payouts are decided by TikTok in US dollars. Any chart claiming an exact rate is a guess.

Diamonds sit between the gift and any money. TikTok decides the last step.

Picture this: your friend goes LIVE playing guitar, a fan sends a big gift, and the Diamond counter jumps. That counter is real, but it is not a bank balance. Think of it as a score that TikTok later looks at, alongside other things, when it decides on a Reward.

What exactly is a TikTok Diamond?

A Diamond is a virtual item TikTok gives creators to track how popular they and their LIVE content are. You cannot buy one, and TikTok's help center ties Diamonds to recognition first, rewards second.

“Diamonds are a type of virtual item that TikTok uses to recognize creator popularity, their ranking, and their contributions to the platform.”

The same Diamonds help page says creators collect them from gifts sent in their LIVE streams, or through missions and campaigns. After that, a creator "may be eligible" for rewards such as digital goods or services. Note the word may.

Three ways a creator can end up with Diamonds

  • Gifts that viewers send during the creator's LIVE.
  • Missions run by TikTok.
  • Campaigns that reward contributions to the platform.

Why can't anyone quote an exact TikTok diamond value?

Because TikTok keeps the conversion rate in its own hands and says so in writing. The global policy states the gift-to-Diamond rate is set by TikTok from time to time, at its sole discretion.

“Diamonds are based on the Gifts a Content Provider receives, at a rate of conversion to be determined by us from time to time in its absolute and sole discretion.”

So a rate you read on a forum in spring might not hold in autumn. On top of that, the newer U.S. Virtual Items Policy says Diamonds "do not automatically entitle" anyone to a Reward. A Diamond is an input, not a coin you can spend.

What changes the number behind the scenes

  • TikTok can adjust the conversion rate whenever it decides to.
  • Payout amounts depend on more than Diamonds alone.
  • Currency conversion and payment fees come off the top.
  • Rules differ by region: there are separate U.S., EU, India and global policies.

How do gifts become Diamonds?

A viewer spends Coins on a gift, the gift is used up instantly, and the creator's account is credited with Diamonds. The global policy describes the gift being removed from the sender and converted into Diamonds for the creator.

  1. The viewer buys Coins in the app, on the website or with a gift card where available.
  2. During a LIVE, the viewer taps Gift, picks one and taps Send.
  3. The Coin cost leaves the viewer's balance.
  4. TikTok counts the gift toward the creator's Diamonds.
  5. Later, TikTok may offer the creator a Reward.

Where can viewers buy Coins?

Website recharge is offered only in supported countries.
  • In the TikTok app, through your app store payment method.
  • On the TikTok website in supported countries.
  • With a TikTok gift card redeemed on the website, where available.

The send-a-gift page adds that gifts are available only in select countries. If you are traveling and the Gift button vanishes, that is probably why.

Coins, Gifts and Diamonds: which is which?

Coins are what viewers buy, Gifts are what viewers send, and Diamonds are what creators collect. Each one follows its own rules, and none of them can be cashed in directly by a viewer.

Coins are not only for gifts. TikTok Help says you can also spend them on services such as Promote or Star Comments to boost content. Diamonds have no such shop: they only feed into the rewards side.

How much is a diamond on TikTok worth to the creator?

A Diamond is worth whatever share of a Reward TikTok decides to pay, and that decision uses several signals besides the Diamond count. Two creators with the same Diamonds can see different payouts.

TikTok's U.S. Rewards Policy, updated 22 January 2026, lists the factors it may weigh for Reward Payments from LIVE content. Diamonds are just the first item on that list.

Factors named in TikTok's U.S. Rewards Policy (updated 22 January 2026).
Factor TikTok may weighWhat it means for you
Diamonds collectedYour popularity score from gifts
LIVE durationHow long your streams run
New unique followers while LIVEGrowth that happens during the stream
Viewer engagementHow actively people take part
Days you went LIVEHow consistently you stream
League or rankingWhere you place against others
Quality and safety of contentWhether the stream follows the rules
Flow diagram: Diamonds and other factors go into a TikTok review, the amount is calculated in US dollars and then paid to the creator's payment account
U.S. Rewards Policy, updated 22 January 2026.

So the real TikTok diamond value for a creator is a moving target. A long, safe, well-attended stream may be treated differently from a short burst of big gifts, even if the Diamond totals match.

Are Reward Payments counted in dollars?

Yes. TikTok calculates Reward Payments in US dollars and may show a local-currency estimate, but conversion costs can come out of your payment.

“Reward Payments are calculated in USD. We may display the estimated amount in your local currency for ease of reference.”

  • Minimum and maximum payout limits may apply.
  • Transaction fees may apply, and TikTok says it shows them before you request a payment.
  • Foreign exchange rates are also displayed before payment.
  • The payment account must be in your own legal name; TikTok gives a bank or PayPal account as examples.

One detail surprises people: until the money lands in your account, the policy says any amount displayed "belongs to TikTok". The number on screen is a promise in progress, not cash yet.

What does the 70% figure in the news actually mean?

It comes from a BBC investigation published on 3 March 2025, which Wikipedia summarizes as saying TikTok takes a 70% cut of livestream earnings in the cases it examined. It is reporting, not a published TikTok rate.

Bar chart: a 2025 BBC investigation, summarized on Wikipedia, reported TikTok takes a 70 percent cut of livestream earnings, leaving 30 percent
From a BBC report of 3 March 2025 as summarized on Wikipedia. It describes specific cases, not an official rate card.

The Wikipedia TikTok article places that figure inside a report about harmful livestreams in Kenya, and notes TikTok denies wrongdoing. Use the number as a rough signal of how big the platform's share can be, not as a formula for your own stream.

How to read that statistic sensibly

  • It was reported by journalists, not announced by TikTok.
  • It describes particular cases and one point in time.
  • TikTok's own policies still say payouts depend on many factors.
  • Your country's rules and fees may change the end result.

Why do online "1 Diamond = X cents" charts disagree?

Because none of them come from a TikTok rate card. They are estimates built from one person's payout screen, and TikTok's policies explain why those screens differ from person to person and month to month.

Imagine two sisters who both stream for an hour and both collect the same Diamonds. One lives in the U.S. and gets paid in dollars; the other is paid in local currency and loses a bit to conversion. Their "per Diamond" math will never match.

Red flags in a TikTok diamond value chart

  • No date, or a date years old.
  • No link to a TikTok policy or help page.
  • A single exact rate presented as official.
  • Promises of "free Coins" or "Diamond generators" next to it.

If a site offers free Coins or Diamonds in exchange for your login, walk away. TikTok's policy says virtual items can only be bought or received from TikTok itself.

How do you work out what a gift cost the viewer?

Multiply the gift's Coin number by what you paid per Coin. That gives the viewer's real spend; it does not tell you what the creator will be paid.

No Gift button means gifting is not available for that LIVE.

A worked example with your own numbers

  1. Open Balance, then Get Coins, and pick any package. Call its price P and its Coins C.
  2. Your cost per Coin is P ÷ C.
  3. Find a gift that needs G Coins in the gift grid.
  4. That gift cost you G × (P ÷ C), plus any bank or card fees.
  5. Try a larger package too: TikTok says the cost per Coin changes with quantity and where you buy.

We do not print sample prices here on purpose. Coin prices depend on your country, your store and the package, so any number we chose could be wrong for you on the day you read this.

Where do creators check their Diamonds?

Inside the TikTok app under Profile, Menu, Balance, then LIVE rewards. TikTok Help gives that path for viewing a Diamonds balance.

TikTok Help lists this exact path for the Diamonds balance.
  • Tap Profile at the bottom.
  • Tap the Menu ☰ button at the top and choose Balance.
  • Tap LIVE rewards.
  • For anything unclear, the same screen offers Help & feedback.

The older global policy also says a creator can see accrued Diamonds in real time and that the withdrawal rate is shown at the point of withdrawal. That screen is the closest thing to an official TikTok diamond value you will ever see, and it is personal to your account.

Who can collect Diamonds in the first place?

Adults in countries where Diamonds are offered, with accounts in good standing and access to the features that collect them. Being popular is not enough on its own.

Eligibility checklist from TikTok Help

  • Diamonds are offered in your country.
  • You are at least 18, or meet the local age rule.
  • You can use the features that let you collect Diamonds.
  • Your account follows the Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.

TikTok's LIVE Creator Networks post from 6 July 2026 sets the age at 18, or 19 in South Korea, and adds that you must be eligible to go LIVE.

Which accounts cannot send or receive gifts?

Government, politician and political party accounts, plus some other public interest accounts, are shut out of LIVE gifting in both directions. Viewers under 18 (19 in South Korea) cannot use Coins at all.

  • Government, Politician and Political Party Accounts cannot receive gifts in their LIVEs.
  • Those same accounts cannot send gifts to other LIVEs.
  • Certain public interest accounts are also excluded.
  • Accounts with unusual or suspicious transactions may be temporarily restricted.

If your little cousin asks why the gift panel never shows up for them, the age rule is the answer. It is written into the Gifts and Coins help page.

Can you buy Diamonds or trade them back for Coins?

No to both. TikTok's global policy says users cannot purchase Diamonds and that Diamonds cannot be exchanged for Coins or Gifts. Value only flows one way.

Things you cannot do with Diamonds

  • Buy them with money.
  • Turn them back into Coins or gifts.
  • Sell, swap or transfer them to another user without TikTok's written consent.
  • Use them to pay for anything outside TikTok.

Under the U.S. rules, none of these items work as money: no cashing out, no paying with them, and no buying or swapping them between users.

Do Diamonds count as property you own?

No. TikTok grants a limited license to use virtual items on the platform, and the global policy says accrued Diamonds do not constitute property.

That same policy says Diamonds are not transferable upon death, in a domestic relations matter, or otherwise by operation of law. In other words, a Diamond balance is not something you can leave to someone or split in a divorce.

SituationWhat TikTok's policy says
You try to sell DiamondsTransfers without written consent are void
An account holder diesDiamonds are not transferable
TikTok ends the Diamond incentiveIt will make reasonable efforts to give prior notice

Can TikTok reduce or remove your Diamonds?

Yes. If TikTok believes your popularity was boosted by breaking its rules, the U.S. policy lets it apply a proportionate reduction to the Diamonds you collected.

  • Breaking the Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.
  • Breaking the LIVE Monetization Guidelines or Creator Code of Conduct.
  • Breaking the Rewards Program terms or the Virtual Items Policy.

TikTok says it will let you know "where appropriate". Buying fake engagement to pump up Diamonds is the fastest way to watch them shrink.

What happens to Diamonds if an account is deleted?

They are gone. The global policy says all Coins, Gifts and Diamonds are cancelled the moment an account is cancelled or terminated, with no refunds for unused items.

TikTok's advice in that policy is blunt: use them before you close the account. If you are a creator thinking about a fresh start, request any Reward you qualify for first.

How long can a Reward wait?

Under the U.S. Rewards Policy, unless a program says otherwise, your ability to receive a Reward expires two years after you first become eligible. TikTok also says it tries to review Reward requests within 24 hours, though some take longer.

Can a viewer get money back after sending a gift?

Not for the gift itself. TikTok's U.S. policy says gifts are consumed on activation and "are not returnable or refundable in any circumstances." Unused Coins are a different story, depending on where you bought them.

Two filters, two different stories: refunds for viewers, payouts for creators.

For App Store purchases, Apple explains its process on reportaproblem.apple.com, and tells you an answer usually takes a day or two (24 to 48 hours). Google sets out its own rules on the Google Play refund policies page.

TikTok Help adds a catch: a refund only works while your Coin balance can absorb the deduction TikTok makes.

How can you see what you spent on gifts?

Use the Gifts sent filter in your Coin history. It lists every gift you sent, so you can add up a night of generous tapping.

Phone mock-up of the TikTok Coins history filtered to Gifts sent
Handy if you want to total up what a fan night cost you.
  1. Profile, then Menu ☰, then Balance.
  2. Tap Coins.
  3. Tap the History icon at the top.
  4. Tap All types and choose Gifts sent.

Separately, the Transaction History shows what you paid for Coins in money. Comparing the two is the only reliable way to know what your gifting really cost.

Why won't TikTok let you buy Coins or send a gift?

Usually it is the payment link, a VPN, an old app version or a shaky connection. TikTok Help lists those checks in that order before suggesting Apple or Google support.

Quick fix checklist

  • Your Google Play or App Store account has a working payment method.
  • Your VPN is switched off.
  • TikTok is updated to the latest version.
  • Your network connection is stable.
  • Still stuck? TikTok points you to Apple or Google for store-side payment problems.

Restart TikTok and refresh the Balance page. If they are still missing, TikTok asks for a receipt screenshot that shows the order ID, the transaction amount and the payment time.

Which policy rule applies where you live?

It depends on your region. TikTok runs separate U.S., EU, India and global documents, and the rules for Diamonds are worded differently in each.

If you live in the EU, the global page points you to a separate Coins Policy and Rewards Policy that replaced the old document from 16 June 2022.

Is gifting the same as paying the creator?

Not legally. TikTok's U.S. policy is explicit that a gift moves no money, no Coins and nothing of value from you to the creator. You are buying a reaction from TikTok.

TikTok's own LIVE Creator Networks blog frames gifting as "the new 'Like'" for fans. That is a fair mental model: a paid, very public way to say you enjoyed the show, with any creator reward handled by TikTok later.

What the viewer and creator each see

  • Your username and the gift details are visible to others.
  • The creator does not receive your Coins.
  • Any payout to the creator comes from TikTok under its Rewards Policy.

What should you remember about TikTok diamond value?

Diamonds are a score, not a wallet. TikTok sets the conversion rate, weighs many factors before paying, and pays in US dollars minus fees.

Five-second recap

  • There is no official per-Diamond cash price.
  • Viewers' real spend is Coins times their own cost per Coin.
  • Creators see Diamonds under Balance, then LIVE rewards.
  • Gifts are never refundable; Coin refunds depend on the store.
  • Diamonds vanish if the account is closed.

Questions people ask

What is one TikTok Diamond worth in cents?

TikTok does not publish a fixed cents-per-Diamond rate. It sets the gift-to-Diamond conversion itself and calculates Reward Payments in US dollars using Diamonds plus other factors.

Does the TikTok diamond value change over time?

It can. TikTok's global policy says the conversion rate is set from time to time at its sole discretion, and the U.S. Rewards Policy lists several other factors that affect payouts.

Can I see the TikTok diamond value for my own account?

The closest you get is your own Balance screen. Creators see Diamonds under LIVE rewards, and TikTok says fees and exchange rates are shown before a payout.

Is a TikTok Diamond the same as a Coin?

No. Viewers buy Coins and spend them on gifts. Creators collect Diamonds from those gifts. Diamonds cannot be bought or turned back into Coins.

How many Diamonds does a gift give the creator?

TikTok does not list a public number. Each gift has a Coin cost shown below it, and TikTok converts gifts into Diamonds at a rate it decides.

Do I need 18 to collect Diamonds?

Yes. TikTok Help says you must be at least 18, or meet the local age rule, and TikTok's creator networks blog says 19 in South Korea.

Can my Diamonds disappear?

Yes. TikTok can apply a proportionate reduction if it believes rules were broken, and all Diamonds are cancelled if the account is cancelled or terminated.

Are TikTok payouts in my local currency?

TikTok calculates Reward Payments in USD and may show a local estimate. Converting to your local currency can carry a cost taken from the payment.

Can I get a refund on a gift I sent by mistake?

No. TikTok's U.S. policy says gifts are consumed instantly and are not refundable in any circumstances. Unused Coins may be refundable depending on the store.

Can Tiktokioo.net save a TikTok LIVE?

Not while it is live. Our tool saves public posts, so a creator can post a highlight publicly and then save it as an MP4 or audio file.
